The project was led by independent doctors, in order to respond to a public health need. Offer cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, but in a day hospital, i.e. two to three half-days per week, while continuing to live at home. In order to avoid a complete hospitalization that is too restrictive, but also to erase the waiting times of several months which dissuade doctors from referring their patients to rehabilitation. “The need was identified by the regional health agency, our tailor-made project, here in this superb site of the former Blois stud farms, appealed to them. » Drs Jean-Simon Arnould and David Sacksick had the idea of setting up a medical prevention and rehabilitation center while working on the stud farm site, at the Ciber imaging center for two years already.
The real estate developer of the stud farm would never have thought of a health orientation for this heritage site, but Ciber, which was too narrow at the hospital, found a strategic position there. In the main building, liberals have set up: pediatricians, physiotherapists, osteopaths. Hence the idea of completing it, by creating a medical center with three other project leaders, where the doctors are employees. “There will no longer be a private cardiologist in Blois by the end of the year, outside hospitals and polyclinics. We have employed a young cardiologist aged 43 who arrives from Bourg-en-Bresse at the end of December. And at the beginning of January, we will welcome a vascular doctor from the North. »
At the end of November, Dr Natacha Amiot, pulmonologist, who previously worked at the Sologne Medical Institute in Lamotte-Beuvron, was the first to start her consultations in the vast premises which had just been delivered. “When I opened on Doctolib, the next two months were filled in two weeks! The project is stimulating because it is necessary to build the entire development of rehabilitation as a team. » Doctors, dietitians, psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses and caregivers, as well as a social worker, optimize the journey of each patient.
“Develop the patient’s physical capacity”
The center works on four points. Physical retraining, in order to develop the patient’s physical capacity, “If he can’t walk 200 m without getting out of breath, we’ll set a goal of 600 meters, or maybe 1 km.” Therapeutic education so that the patient understands and acts on his illness; reducing the number of medications taken per day by optimizing medical treatment. Finally, reintegration into life, for example being able to take care of your vegetable garden again or consider your professional future for those who are concerned. Everything starts from an assessment, either of breathing for all chronic pathologies causing shortness of breath, such as long Covid, or of cardiovascular problems, for example after a myocardial infarction, in order to retrain the muscle and not move towards insufficiency. cardiac.
Patients are referred by their doctor and the care is provided by the CPAM. “There is no excess fee”specifies the team. For their journey, they will have a balneotherapy center equipped with a 12×4 meter pool and three levels of depth, a rehabilitation room with 7 ergometers, physical exercise rooms, an emergency room in cases of illness and suitable medical practices. “We have a device that calculates VO2 max, that is to say the maximum lung capacity developed during exercise. This will make it possible to measure the progress made at the end of the treatment,” says Dr. Sacksick. In the long corridors of the former stud farms, patients can walk in the dry and test themselves. And from spring, they will be able to enjoy the park which will be fitted out with equipment and a sensory trail. “There’s everything you need to get back in the saddle! », concludes Dr Arnould.

Private detective seeks cardiologist
“It’s true that we called in a private detective. We were looking for doctors and we deployed all possible means; It turns out that a headhunter was also a private detective and he created a buzz with it,” explains Dr. Sacksick. The stud medical center thus obtained an article in the Quotidien du Docteur and it appears in a subject on France 2.
But the role of the detective in search of the untraceable doctor in the middle of the medical desert ends there. The stud medical center took a year longer than expected to open, because the renovations of the site took longer and the recruitment of doctors also dragged on a little. “We will have three employed doctors at the start of 2025, cardiologist, pulmonologist and vascular specialist. We are already very satisfied with it and are still looking for a cardiologist. » For the record, the employed cardiologist was not recruited by the private detective. “We just want to convince our colleagues that there are superb working conditions here! »
