A 5 km hike was organized on Thursday November 28, 2024 by Greta (training center) in Lisieux (Calvados). At the initiative of this walk, the Greta trainer Pierre Fleutot and his 10 trainees, who are part of the “Essential Knowledge” system.
Training funded by the Normandy Region and in partnership with Acséa formation, which allows trainees to refresh their skills in maths, French and digital technology. In parallel with this training, they “must set up projects” indicates Pierre Fleutot.
Screening awareness
After Pink October, comes “movember”, a contraction of “november” in English and the “mo” of mustache. Participants were invited to walk to “ to raise awareness the public at screening male cancers, such as the prostate or testicles. It is also about preventing mental health and suicide among men. »
» In France, prostate cancer accounts for 60,000 new cases per year, rare before the age of 50, but an incidence which increases with age. Testicular cancer is the leading cancer among 25/35 year olds. “
Walkers there
For a month, the trainees “created posters, made and sold small blue ribbons in solidarity”. To complete this project, they organized a hike. “Everyone gives what they want for the hike,” explains Pierre Fleutot. This 5 km walk started from Place François Mitterrand, before joining the Évêché garden, along the Touques and ending at the arboretum. The hiking route was carried out by Sylvie Gérault Ganivet, from the group “various outings Pays d’Auge. »
Around fifty hikers were at the start. Among them, Véronique Baudry, one post on Facebook later and she is at the back of the pack in this march.
“I like hiking. Even if I didn’t know about Blue November, cancer is a subject that affects everyone.”
Thanks to this initiative, around 500 euros will be donated to the François Baclesse Center, for the fight against cancer.
