Colorectal screening kits will be distributed. The city of Frontignan is in fact organizing a day to raise awareness of cancer screening and health promotion. The event takes place this Friday, November 29, 2024 in the Aire room. “We invite you to participate in this event in large numbers” declares the mayor of Frontignan Michel Arrouy. The day begins in the morning at 9:30 a.m. with a workshop entitled “Moustache” and solidarity march. It will result in a discovery walk of the Pielles district punctuated by a Yoga session led by the YogaMoon association.
Nutritional factor
Eating is also invited to this health forum, through a session dedicated to deciphering food labels. Nutrition advisor, Charlène Innocenti will host this sequence. “There is, she said, studies which have highlighted the influence of nutritional factors on the risk of developing cancer and that even if there remains uncertainty about the exact role of some of these causes, an unbalanced diet would be at the origin of 19OOO cases of cancer per year.
Balanced diet
According to the nutrition advisor, “a balanced and diversified diet that favors foods of plant origin rich in fiber such as fruits and vegetables, cereals can reduce the risk of developing cancer.” Another speaker on this same theme, dietitian Samuel Honrubia will present a mini-conference entitled: “How can our diet protect us from cancer?”
Read labels
Diet is an integral part of the behaviors on which we can act to increase cancer prevention. This involves reading food labels. Beyond the calorie line and nutritional value tables, there is a whole list of ingredients with additives and allergens that can potentially be dangerous to your health. It is the duty of operators to mention this.
Cervical neck
Another highlight of this day was the speech by Doctor Frantz Bousquet, obstetrician-gynecologist in Sète. He comes to talk about breast cancer prevention and screening. He will particularly discuss female cancers. It will place particular emphasis on HPV or human papilloma virus. This infection is the cause of certain cancers, including cervical cancer.
Prostate, testicles…
The awareness day is also aimed at men. Extensive documentation is available on the stands. This literature deals with male cancers such as those of the prostate or testicles. It is obviously also a question of colorectal cancer.
Equal access to care
The CPIE, (Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives Bassin de Thau) was invited by the town hall of Frontignan to hold a stand dedicated to the theme of endocrine disruptors and their presence in daily life. “The initiative of this day linked to the promotion of health is part of the municipal approach to promote equal access for all to care and prevention” declares David Jardon municipal councilor responsible for public health.
Along the stands
A tobacco prevention stand awaits candidates for smoking cessation assistance. It is run by a nurse from the Asalée association (CPTS/MSP). CPAM (Primary Health Insurance Fund) stand in Hérault offers other prevention offers relating to mental and sexual health and addictions. Sport is also present. Introductory boxing workshops are offered at the Dynamik boxing club.
