THE December 3 and 4, 2024the city of Lille will host a brand new event which promises to mark the Digital Health sector: He heals. Launched as part of MedFITthe leading European meeting for innovation partnerships in MedTech and Diagnostics, MEDigIT responds to a growing need: that of accelerating exchanges, collaborations and advances in the field of Digital Health.
Why MEDigIT?
Faced with the rapid growth of digital health solutions, it has become essential to offer them a dedicated platform. If this theme already existed within MedFIT, the growing number of players and initiatives in this sector made it necessary to create a course entirely dedicated to digital health under the MEDigIT banner. This development reflects the strategic importance of this field, which now attracts significant investments and mobilizes a varied ecosystem: start-ups, companies, academic institutions, research centers, payers, healthcare providers and investors.
The objective of MEDigIT? Accelerate the development of these promising technologies, while addressing the complex challenges related to their adoption, regulation and large-scale implementation. This initiative aims to provide participants with a clear vision of opportunities and obstacles, while fostering collaborations to transform innovative ideas into concrete solutions for patients and health systems.
Themes at the heart of tomorrow’s challenges
MEDigIT will offer a conference program that will address key questions for the future of digital health. Here are the topics that will be explored:
· Developing economic models for digital health prevention: challenges and opportunities
Prevention is a key lever to improve long-term health outcomes and reduce costs for health systems. However, designing viable business models for preventive digital solutions remains a challenge. The conference will explore: the economic benefits of investing in prevention and their quantification as well as reimbursement strategies adapted to digital solutions. Concrete examples of successful business models and the lessons to be learned will also be presented, as well as the steps necessary to deploy these solutions on a large scale.
· Accelerating the adoption and development of innovative digital therapeutics in Europe
Digital therapeutics promise to revolutionize healthcare, but their adoption remains hampered by structural barriers. This session will focus on:
-
- The challenges linked to their definition and characterization.
- The current state of regulation and reimbursement in Europe.
- Initiatives promoting interoperability and data sharing.
- The business models and investment strategies needed to drive their adoption.
- Possible collaborations between caregivers, industry, patients and legislation.
· Augmented intelligence: balancing human expertise and AI in diagnostic decision-making
If augmented intelligence can transform diagnostic practices, it raises questions about its optimal use alongside clinicians. Discussions will focus on the integration of AI into the clinical decision-making process, the training of practitioners to work effectively with these tools, the transparency and explainability of algorithms for caregivers and patients, the ethical challenges linked to its use , and concrete examples of successful implementations.
Renowned speakers
MEDigIT will bring together leading international experts who will share their knowledge and experiences. Among them: Hadleigh Stollar (Healthcare Innovation Consortium), Tristan Debove (Orion Health), Gudmundur Ebenezer (Lifekeys), Chris Xu Yurong (Huawei), Cristian Toader (Boston Scientific), Garnette Sutherland (University of Calgary & OrbSurgical Ltd.).
These personalities, with varied and complementary profiles, will bring unique perspectives on current innovations and challenges.
Discovering the innovations of tomorrow
In addition to the conferences, MEDigIT will highlight more innovative projectsselected for their transformative potential in the field of health. These pitch sessions will provide a unique opportunity to discover start-ups and technologies poised to shape the future of healthcare. The selected start-ups are divided into two categories: Artificial Intelligence (INTA, ReMotion, Biel Glasses) and Assistive Technology (Lifebloom, Axomove).
