The cold snap of the last few days has served as a reminder of an implacable reality: winter is setting in. And with his return, the eternal medical questions arise.
This year again, the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will be carried out jointly with that against the flu. It has been possible to be vaccinated since October 15. The campaign will end on January 31, 2025.
Each year, in France, between 2 and 6 million people are affected by the flu epidemic. To protect yourself, the flu vaccine is fully covered by Health Insurance in certain cases. For people aged 65 and over, those suffering from obesity or certain chronic illnesses, pregnant women, those around infants at risk of severe flu and immunocompromised people. In the medical world, home helpers and professionals exposed to avian and swine influenza viruses are also affected by this free vaccination.
To benefit from the latter, the people concerned must receive care vouchers directly at their home. On the other hand, it is covered at 65% for children aged 2 to 7 without comorbidities. For people aged 18 and over not targeted by the recommendations, the flu vaccine is not reimbursed but remains possible for those who wish to be vaccinated. The Covid vaccine is, for its part, completely free.
For both flu and Covid, it is possible to be vaccinated by doctors and midwives. But nurses and pharmacists can vaccinate people aged 11 and over, whether or not targeted by the recommendations.
