Respiratory viruses: Positive feedback from the RELAB network



















The RELAB network is a respiratory virus surveillance network that relies on city laboratories. The first assessment after one year of existence is very positive.

The RELAB network is a respiratory virus surveillance network (RSV, influenza, bronchiolitis, Covid-19) based on city medical biology laboratories. Launched in pilot version in the summer of 2023 with the Biogroup and Cerballiance laboratories, it is therefore the counterpart of the RENAL network for hospital laboratories. Patients, with their consent, provide additional clinical data that complement the virus detection results. The clinical data and PCR test results are transmitted and used by the CNR for respiratory infection viruses (Hospices civils de Lyon and Institut Pasteur de Paris). The network has taken stock after one year: more than 500,000 data processed, a promising public/private collaboration that only needs to be expanded, and results allowing a real vision of the epidemic dynamics in real time.
