A health prevention day organized in Tulle

“Our goal is for people to come and learn about different pathologies… But with a smile”, says Catherine Vieillefont, public health facilitator at the Tulle Hospital Center. This Tuesday, June 18, 2024, a Health Prevention Day was organized, hand in hand with the CCAS of the City of Tulle, the Agglomeration, or even the Municipality. For the occasion, agents from the Tulle hospital traveled outside the establishment to meet users.

A meeting place

Around forty stands, health professionals and associations were able to meet and discuss the support offered to patients. “This prevention, which we call ‘outside the walls’, also allows meetings. Patients see who can help them, once they have passed the acute phase of a pathology. Hospital agents meet also provide information on external resources allowing patients to better cope with their chronic pathologies and other illnesses.explains Catherine.

Among the stands set up, we could notably find the Association of Blood Donors of Corrèze, associations advocating various cancer screenings, or even associations around stroke or organ donation. “I was very surprised, because I contacted around fifty associations and health professionals for this day, and I believe that there are between 35 and 38 to be present today. I believe that it there is a real desire on their part to organize this type of event”says the public health presenter.

A day supported by the Local Health Contract

This prevention day is also part of the Local Health Contract of the City of Tulle and its Agglomeration. “I was able to participate in meetings relating to the CLS. Gradually, and I was able to discuss with the director of the City’s CCAS, to build a network… It was little by little that this The idea of spending the day sprouted in my head.”explains Catherine.

A day that mobilized people. At certain workshops, groups of children gather to discover invasive plants, or discover the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and its effects through simulation glasses or even fun courses. “Being grouped into poles and themes is interesting. Professionals and associations will be able to take advantage of this to exchange ideas, and go in groups to other stands, because they don’t all know each other,” says the organizer of this day.

An event that could happen again. “Something that brings together so many people and that brings the hospital outside its walls, I think it’s a great first. There will certainly be a new edition. It’s a bit of a request from the hospital center, in all case I’m not sure if this day will become annual, but every two years, I think it could be nice.Catherine concludes.
