Exceptionally, it is not only members who will be able to exercise. In the Blue Orange gym based in Carcassonne, the Mo-Vèir association, promoting health through physical activity, will requisition the premises on Saturday November 16. The goal: to organize an entire day on the occasion of Movember, a charity event which invites people to raise funds to finance research into male diseases such as prostate or testicular cancer.

For the organization, this annual meeting has become a habit. Since 2021, at the same period, she has been working on programming a sporting action, taking place for one day. Following the latter, the amount raised was used to improve the hospitalization conditions of patients. In 2023, for example, the more than €5,000 was used to donate an artificial sky placed in a radiotherapy bunker to the hospital center in the prefectural town of Aude.

For this fourth edition, the sum soon raised will be intended for the cancer department of the CH. “This year, we will try to obtain virtual reality headsets whose intention will be to allow patients to wait in good conditions”underlines Wilfried Mourier, president of Mo-Vèir. Expensive equipment which would require reaching an amount of at least around €5,000, like the previous time.

To help the association earn this money, volunteers will have to go to Blue Orange. How will the event be organized? Wilfried Mourier explains: “From 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., everyone will be welcome to exercise, and for free. To do this, we will provide cardio training equipment such as bikes, treadmills and rowing machines to everyone. will have 60 in total. For each kilometer traveled, we will convert it into euros. In the event that the target amount is not reached, Mo-Vèir volunteers have several emergency solutions. Namely, among other things, asking companies that have the desired items to donate one or two copies. “Generally, they play the game as soon as we explain to them the charitable action that we have put in place”indicates Wilfried Mourier.

If everyone is invited to go there on the big day, the organization can also count on support. In this case the Hand-ball Club Carcassonnais (HBCC), the Lunetier showroom, a local optician, as well as Axa insurance which all represent major financiers of the club. As a result, the gym will be able to count on the presence of representatives of the USC, the FAC ( Agglomération Carcassonne) or even the boxing club. “CTM sailors (navy transmission center, Editor’s note) and members of the national police will also be present to offer us their support”rejoices the president of Mo-Vèir. To include as many people as possible, various stands will be accessible to the public. “Last year for example, the ages of participants ranged from 3 to 90 years old”concludes Wilfried Mourier.
