Stroke: everything you need to know to protect yourself and get ahead of yourself

Yesterday, the medical team from the neurology department of Pasteur Hospital hosted an information stand on the risks associated with stroke.

Many people participated in the screening workshops: blood pressure measurement, diabetes screening, atrial defibrillation for those over 65.

This last workshop was organized by the Lions Club Doyen, which invested in heart rate detection devices, with the assistance of the health prevention association of the Allianz group and the Crédit Agricole foundation. Around twenty pharmacies must be equipped with them. The message that health workers sent yesterday is that at the slightest sign, “you must call 15, because when it comes to stroke care, every minute counts”. Symptoms can appear very suddenly, for example loss of speech or part of the visual field, difficulty using a limb, etc.

Caring is essential. But so is prevention. Professionals recommend monitoring cholesterol and blood sugar, practicing sports, eating healthily and avoiding alcohol and tobacco.
