60 Million Consumers revealed the water bottles that were the best of all for your health!
As surprising as it may seem, it is important to choose the water bottles you buy wisely. And for good reason, some are dangerous for health. Fortunately, this is not the case for all.
Brands dangerous for your health
Numerous studies have shown that certain types of water bottles can be very bad for your health. Indeed, in 2022, the Agir pour l’environnement association launched the alert.
The organization carried out a study to examine the levels of microplastics present in the most consumed water bottles in France. Among the brands analyzed: Badoit, Carrefour (Source Montclar), Cristaline, Evian, Perrier, Vittel and Volvic.
The results came as a shock to many consumers. In the vast majority of bottles tested, microplastics were detected. According to the association, « 78% of water tested contains plastic microparticles« .
Quantities may vary. They range from a single particle per liter to 121 microparticles for the 33 cl Vittel Kids bottle, intended for children. An alarming and very worrying observation.
“It is unacceptable to let bottled water manufacturers sell water polluted with microplastics, but presented as so-called “pure” and in more than 300 times more expensive than tap water ! »protests the association.
She also asked for measures to be taken to protect the population from these water bottles. The goal? “Get out of disposable plastic as quickly as possible, starting by banning plastic bottles”.
The best water bottles according to 60 million consumers
Please note, however, that there are bottles of water that you can consume. And for good reason, they do not present a health hazard, according to 60 million consumers. This is particularly the case of Volvic which filters its water through volcanic rocks.
This natural process offers remarkable purity. Thus, no unwanted residues were detected in the tests. Carrefour's Montclar water is also praised for its absence of contaminants.
It constitutes an interesting, accessible and healthy alternative for consumers concerned about their health, underlines the association. When it comes to sparkling waters, Badoit proves to be a relatively safe choice.
Although it contains traces of microplastics, these are tiny. And therefore do not present any significant danger according to experts. Finally, the bottles of Evian water, although not not completely free of microplasticsremains one of the most secure options.
Tests revealed only one particle per liter. This is a rate which, for the moment, remains considered acceptable. You can therefore favor these many brands on a daily basis, without fearing negative effects on your health.
The dangers of microplastic
If there is also concern about microplastics in water bottles, it is for good reason. Studies carried out in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom revealed the presence of microplastics in the lungs and blood of living people.
In addition, laboratory tests go even further. Researchers have observed that microplastics can trigger allergic reactions upon contact with human cells.
They can also cause these cells to die. Experts are calling on governments and businesses to act now to limit the population's exposure to these particles.
And this, in particular by tackling plastic packaging. While waiting for these decisions to be made, the magazine 60 Millions de consommateurs continues to reveal the healthiest options for the French.
