In November, No Tobacco Month invites smokers to take up the 30-day tobacco-free challenge, with an awareness village planned for this Saturday in Saint-Girons.
In November, “No Tobacco Month” also takes place. A major national prevention campaign carried out by Public Health France and the Ministry of Health and Access to Care, in collaboration with Health Insurance, is relayed in Occitanie by the ARS. It pursues one objective: to offer a challenge to smokers, to commit to quitting smoking for 30 days. In fact, studies have shown that stopping for 30 days increases the chances of quitting smoking for good by five.
In conjunction with the departmental branches of the ARS, including that of Ariège, Promotion Santé Occitanie ensures the coordination of the network of partners to coordinate the actions of the Month Without Tobacco. Precisely in Ariège, two types of actions are being implemented. First, those carried out specifically by the structures according to their audiences (Maison des Ados, AIPD 09, IFMS). Then, taking advantage of the attractiveness of the Saint-Girons market, the Mois sans Tabac village will make a stop there as part of its tour. It will welcome the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.
Co-organized by several partners and supported by the municipality, it will be based on an easily recognizable stand in front of the town hall, as well as in a specific space in the hall of honor. During this village, discussions, self-tests concerning dependence, information interviews and help with quitting, as well as resources (local contacts, information brochures) will be offered. This village aims to create a space for exchange and support for people looking for support.
In the spirit of the campaign, this village aims to be a place of welcome, information and support, positive, caring and collective, focusing on the support and emulation of non-smokers. Then, just 30 short days to go.
