Drinking coffee: this myth demolished by Jimmy Mohamed
Beware of preconceived ideas! It is the warning of
Jimmy Mohamed in his book Zero constraints to stay young: There is no age to start!published by Flammarion in February 2024. The famous doctor resolves, among other things, an endless debate on coffee consumption.
According to him, “the effects of caffeine are transient and fade after some time in regular coffee consumers.. The columnist for the Health Magazine on the France 5 channel therefore concludes that
“If we only had to remember one thing, it is that
coffee is good for the heart“. Drinking coffee would also have an equally beneficial and surprising effect on another vital organ.
Is drinking coffee good for the brain?
The Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) indicates on its official website that caffeine stimulates the brain. Its consumption would have “a positive effect on mood” in addition to delaying fatigue. “It also helps better perform simple cognitive tasks et physical tasks that require endurancebut not those which require great manual dexterity”specify the center’s experts.
The conclusions of several epidemiological studies and experimental studies carried out recently finally stipulate that the consumption of caffeine benefits in particular the cognitive functions of people suffering
of an early or moderate form of Alzheimer’s disease, without however knowing the molecular mechanisms at work.
