A Swiss elected official scrutinized the American presidential elections on the ground. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has indeed mandated national advisor Jean-Luc Addor (UDC/VS) as an observer, among some 160 parliamentarians from around forty European countries. Objective: to ensure the proper conduct of these elections.
As a reminder, Donald Trump had, in 2020 and again in recent days, denounced “irregularities” and “fraud” – without ever having provided the slightest proof. Verdict of Jean-Luc Addor, after visiting 17 polling stations in Nevada with his partner, a German elected official: “It was a serious organization, particularly in terms of checking the identity of voters. There was a calm, even serene atmosphere, both inside the premises and outside. For example, I have not observed any demonstrations from either side.” The Valaisan even describes a “quite nice” atmosphere with, away from the polling stations, “the entertainment of DJs, who congratulated people for coming to vote”. For the national advisor, “the system worked well”.
