An imported case of dengue fever during a recent trip stayed in Joué-lès-Tours, announced the Regional Health Agency (ARS). Consequently, a mosquito control operation is scheduled for the night of Thursday June 6 to Friday June 7, 2024, from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., in the Chaumette district. Displays and leaflets listing the measures to be taken must inform residents of the area by then.

No transmission observed

“To limit the risks of spreading dengue fever, the ARS will carry out targeted mosquito control actions in localized areas of the municipality, taking into account the presence of the tiger mosquito in this sector. They aim to reduce the risk of spreading dengue,” indicates the ARS, which adds : “To date, no local transmission of disease linked to a mosquito has been observed in Joué-lès-Tours, nor in the Centre-Val de Loire region. »

Last year, the tiger mosquito had already poisoned the Mona Lisa summer. A similar operation took place near Lac des Bretonnières in October 2023. “It is possible to fight against the proliferation of mosquitoes by removing all places and objects that may contain waterresumes the ARS. If the containers cannot be emptied, access to water must be removed by installing, for example, mosquito nets on rainwater tanks, sand in flower cups, etc. »
