The Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Pierre N’Gou Dimba, called, on Saturday October 12, 2024, on women to be screened for cancer, by going to the centers very early health. It was during the breast cancer screening and free cervical cancer vaccination days, held at the Agboville Regional Hospital Center (CHR) at the initiative of the Agnéby-Tiassa Regional Council. in collaboration with The Good Samaritan NGO.

Started last Friday October 11, the operation is part of the awareness campaign called: “Pink October”.

“Dear mothers, dear sisters, dear daughters, no longer be afraid of cancer. Thanks to the investments made under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara, today, we have dedicated centers which make it possible to treat cancer very early with very good results in terms of recovery rate,” said Pierre N’Gou Dimba.

The minister recalled government actions aimed at combating pathology. He cited, among others, the construction of IMENA (Institute of Nuclear Medicine of Abidjan) and the launch of work on the integrated TEP-SCAN center, which will strengthen the capacity for detecting cancer lesions. Also, he indicated that studies have been carried out so that treatment is done locally with the Alassane Ouattara National Center for Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy (CNRAO) and other centers. “When cancer is detected early, we have a cure rate of 9 cases out of 10 women,” he said.

Present at the ceremony, the general director of the CNRAO, prof. Didi-Kouko Coulibaly Judith, returned to the basic rules to be observed in women to protect themselves from breast cancer. These are: self-palpation, an annual consultation after the age of 20 and finally a breast x-ray (mammogram), every 2 years from the age of 45.
