A new technical neurology rehabilitation platform for the René-Muret hospital

The neurology medical care and rehabilitation unit (SMR) of the René- hospital is carrying out a major project which is based on the modernization of the care offer, the increase in reception capacity and the creation a technical rehabilitation platform using cutting-edge technologies.

The installation of the neurology SMR in René-Muret and work lasting 10 months thus made it possible to extend the conventional hospitalization offer with now 25 full hospitalization beds, the creation of 10 hospitalization places update and the extension and modernization of the technical rehabilitation platform. The unit also offers assessments and rehabilitation combining several complementary disciplines such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, neuropsychology, adapted physical activity, psychomotor skills, speech therapy, treatment of spasticity, or even neuro-urology.

The extension of this new technical platform allows patients to benefit from new rehabilitation spaces including a therapeutic apartment simulating the living space and a “speech – cognition” platform. This also includes the provision of several specialized technical platform (PTS) equipment with robotic rehabilitation devices for the upper and lower limbs, the deployment of isokinetics allowing the assessment and strengthening of muscular capacities, mirror therapy promoting cerebral plasticity for better recovery of paralyzed limbs, as well as a laboratory for quantified analysis of walking and movement.

The multidisciplinary team of the SMR neurology cares for adult patients suffering from neurological pathologies which have led to an alteration of their functional capacities. She has extensive experience in the management of inflammatory neurological pathologies including multiple sclerosis, all movement pathologies such as Parkinson’s disease, as well as phasic and cognitive disorders such as stroke.
