The big race “I League Against Cancer” celebrated its 10th anniversary this Sunday, October 6 in . Nearly 11,000 people took part in the event, which raised 201,000 euros.

“We’re used to running, but this is for a good cause!” Isaac came with his friend Mélissa, who confides that she is affected by a case of cancer in her family. The young couple completed the 10 km distance in less than an hour, the goal they had set for themselves. They have finished, but others are preparing to set off in one of the events of the great solidarity race “I’m uniting against cancer”, the 10th edition of which was celebrated this Sunday.

The objective was to bring together as many people as possible in order to generate the best profits for the fight against breast cancer and those linked to papillomaviruses. The event was part of the entire anthology of activities of Operation Pink October.

201,000 euros raised

So, when the president launched the festivities on the grand podium of the Plaine des Argoulets, an “Ohhh!” of admiration followed by long applause punctuated the most beautiful announcement of the day: 11,000 participants for this anniversary race and an induced profit of 201,000 euros translated by a symbolic check.

“This money will be exclusively reserved for medical research for breast cancer. Progress exists, as with targeted therapy,” underlines the president. At his side, the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, also showed a message of hope about cancer.

“I fully support this cause. Plus, I work in the adapted physical activity sector, so it touches me,” reacts Elodie. As for the two pharmacy student friends, Jade and Marine, they admit to having come to the race “to make (their) contribution to this just cause”.
