Doctor Marie-Nuria Falguières, departmental delegate of the Parkinson 82 association, has left us after many years of illness.

Marie-Nou, as she was familiarly called by her friends, fought fiercely for 15 years against cancer. Triumphant over the first two attacks, the third recurrence got the better of his will. However, “this frail woman, with exemplary courage based on a strong character, probably inherited from her Catalan origins, never complained” underlines Brigitte Heral. “She had a generosity, attention and devotion to others that commanded admiration” adds with sadness, the one who has just lost her best friend.

Born into a family of doctors, Marie-Nuria followed the family path to succeed her father and grandfather. She was first a general practitioner, then an occupational physician before becoming an expert in the courts, devoting her life to working to relieve the physical and psychological distress of patients. Even in retirement, Doctor Falguières continued to help people like herself suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Despite her age, she remained attentive to the latest treatments that could relieve her. Involved in the France Parkinson association of Tarn-et-Garonne, Marie-Nurcia became its departmental delegate. In this context, she had largely contributed to the establishment of psychological support, in particular by offering patients choir workshops, gentle gymnastics, tango, ping-pong or even swimming pool, in order to improve their daily lives and give them back the taste to the life. “Her smile brightened those close to her and her vitality was an example for all. In this heaven, in which she believes, if there is a place for the righteous, it is certainly reserved for her. Farewell Marie-Nou and Thank you” concludes Brigitte Heral with great emotion.

The funeral will be celebrated Tuesday April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Saint-Sauveur church in Castelsarrasin and followed by burial in the Macalet cemetery.
