From April 22 to 28, 2024, it’s European Vaccination Week!

Every year, European Vaccination Week is an opportunity to recall the importance of vaccinating children and adults and to give the necessary boosters. Vaccination remains the most effective means of prevention to protect against certain serious infections and reduce the risk of epidemics. HPV vaccination campaign in schools

Despite its effectiveness against many cancers in girls and boys, vaccination coverage against HPV remains insufficient in France. 80% of women and men are exposed to these viruses during their lifetime. Today, vaccination against HPV prevents up to 90% HPV infections causing cancer (cervix, anus, oropharynx, penis, vulva and vagina). Each year in France, 6,400 new cases of cancer are linked to human papillomavirus (HPV).

Following the presidential announcement of February 28, 2023, an HPV vaccination campaign is launched nationally in 5th grade colleges.th. The first dose was administered from September to December 2023. The passage of mobile teams from vaccination centers for the second dose began at the beginning of April and will end in June. In the Grand Est, 13 vaccination centers and their branches are involved in the campaign. More than 9,000* students have already been vaccinated during the first part of the campaign. In addition to HPV vaccination, 8 out of 10 departments also offer catch-up vaccinations for other valences when the child is not up to date. This campaign aims to register over time, the parents of middle school students in class 5th will be asked to agree to the vaccination of their children.
