Hauts-de-France in Avignon

These are three pillars which complement each other, reinforce each other and which express the ambition of the Hauts-de-France Region: creation, transmission, reflection.

First pillar: creation. This year again, from June 29 to July 21, 2024, 10 regional companies will present their creations in the “OFF” of the Avignon Festival. Among the 10 companies selected, 5 are participating for the first time. Their proposals reflect the artistic diversity of creation in the Hauts-de-France region.

Since 2016, the Region has supported 118 shows at the Avignon Festival, providing them with the visibility that companies need to bring their creations to life.

Second pillar: transmission. This year again, the Hauts-de-France Region is allowing high school students to attend shows and immerse themselves in the heart of the largest theater festival in the world. “High school students and apprentices in Avignon” supports 200 students supervised by their 24 teachers, from 12 establishments in Hauts-de-France. Since 2016, more than 1,000 high school students and apprentices have attended the Avignon Festival.

Third pillar: reflection. Because the Avignon Festival is the place for cultural debate, the Hauts-de-France Region and the “IN” are continuing their joint reflections with, on July 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cloître Saint-Louis, a Café des Idées around the question: How does culture transform territories? In the presence of Xavier Bertrand, President of the Hauts-de-France Region, Cécile Helle, Mayor of Avignon, Julie Deliquet, director and director of the Gérard Philipe Theater (CDN of Saint-Denis) as well as Maud Le Floc’ h, director of POLAU, Art and Urban Planning Center ().

“For our region, it is important to be present at the Avignon Festival, even more so today, and to support our regional companies who will be able to meet the public and present their creations to programmers and broadcast professionals. The 10 companies selected for the 2024 edition are preparing their 2025 season in Avignon. A showcase for our regional talents, this system is also a development platform for live performance, allowing artists and their teams to project themselves into the future. and to prepare productions which will contribute to the cultural influence of Hauts-de-France. In addition, we are , as every year, to involve high school students and apprentices from the region who discover live performance on a large scale in the heat of action.”
