The departmental gendarmerie group has in fact recorded an increase of more than 35% since the start of the year. Among these bodily accidents, 9 were fatal during the first months of 2024. They mainly occurred on the most accident-prone roads in the department, namely the penetrating roads. The main causes are, as in many other departments, the consumption of alcohol and drugs. The Indinois authorities are therefore calling on drivers to exercise caution during this week of school holidays.

Since the start of 2024, the Ain departmental gendarmerie group has recorded an increase of more than 35% in the number of injury accidents, including 9 fatalities. These accidents mainly occurred on the most accident-prone roads in the department, namely penetrating roads with the main cause being alcohol and drug consumption.
During this week of school holidays and to fight against addictive behavior, Marianne Tessa, chief of staff of the prefect of Ain, participated this Thursday, April 18 in a coordinated traffic police check alongside gendarmerie captain Denis Allamel. It was held in Saint-Etienne-du-Bois.
Speakers from the road safety delegation were also present to raise awareness among road users of the dangers linked to alcohol and drugs.
