Unless the future winner of theAfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2024 doesn't come from behind. We think for example here of the Dane Jacob Skov Olesenlast winner of the British amateur this summer in Ireland and turned pro right after, depriving himself of an invitation to the Masters. He occupies third place alone at -10, just ahead of the South African Jovan Rebula27 years old, who is none other than the nephew of Ernie Els !
Fourteen golfers are in fact in just five shots and the wind, key to the week here at Mont Choisy, will still blow generously during the final wrap. Remember that the South African Shaun Norrisvictorious at Leopard Creek last week, was six shots behind the lead when he embarked on his final lap.
Author of a card of 69 (-3) including a birdie on the 18th green to regain his place as leader, Eddie Pepperell nevertheless wants to remain cautious, even if he remains quite satisfied with his day where he did not finally conceded only one bogey on increasingly firm greens.
« I still need to focus a little more on a better drive because I think I can play three, four or five under par, despite the windy conditionsunderlines the double winner on the European Tour, caddeyed for the occasion by his wife, Jen. Member of the Sunshine Touralso present this season on the Challenge TourDylan Naidoo, 26 years old, 675th player in the world, also has ideas of victory. An outcome that would completely disrupt his life as a professional golfer.
« My iron game has been really good lately and I was pretty effective today with the putterblows the owner of an excellent 66 (-6) with the highlight of a fiery start thanks to six birdies slammed on his first seven holes. I was a little worried at the start of the week but everything is going well so far. We still have 18 holes to play. There is still a long way to go. I am of course delighted to be in this position. I'm pretty excited, I have to admit. It's up to me to enjoy all of this while playing as well as possible against myself. »
And why not Clément Sordet?
In hard after 36 holes, the tricolor clan has regained some color, largely thanks to Clement Sordet. The Lyonnais based on the Côte d'Azur simply signed the menu of the day. A magnificent 65 (-7) which allows him to climb to 7th place at -7. He is only four shots behind the leaders. In possession of a category 18 via the European maps in Tarragona at the beginning of November, he who launches his season this week in Mauritius would not be against the idea of succeeding a certain Antoine Roznerlast winner on this route in December 2022.
