Formula 1 is about to experience a breath of fresh air in 2025 with the arrival of a new wave of promising young drivers. Among them, three names already stand out: the Frenchman Isack Hadjar, the Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli and the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto. A look back at the exceptional journeys of these rookies who are preparing to shake up the established hierarchy.
Isack Hadjar, the French Hope
At only 20 years old, Isack Hadjar is on the verge of realizing his dream by accessing Formula 1. A member of the Red Bull Academy since 2022, the Parisian has climbed the ranks brilliantly, notably finishing vice-champion of Formula 2 this year . His driving intelligence, praised by Helmut Marko who compares him to Alain Prostas well as his speed make him one of the most anticipated rookies.
Isack is a complete, fast and intelligent driver. He has everything to succeed at the highest level.
A source close to Red Bull
After several convincing test sessions at the wheel of Red Bull and Racing Bulls F1 cars, Hadjar will make his debut with the latter alongside Yuki Tsunoda.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the Italian Prodiges
At the age of 18, Andrea Kimi Antonelli is preparing to make history by becoming the youngest starting driver at Mercedes, where he will succeed Lewis Hamilton. Touted as a nugget by Toto Wolff, the Italian crushed the competition in the lower categories, winning the Italian and German F4 titles in 2022, then in Formula Regional European by Alpine (FRECA) the following year.
Despite a lackluster first season in F2 (6th), Mercedes decided to bet on Antonelli to embody the future of the German team. A daring bet which testifies to the immense potential of the native of Bologna.
Gabriel Bortoleto, the rising Brazilian
Gabriel Bortoleto, 20 years old, achieved the feat of winning the F3 and F2 titles in quick succession, a double that only Oscar Piastri had achieved before him. A performance which did not fail to attract the attention of the F1 teams. It was ultimately Sauber who won, offering Fernando Alonso's protégé a seat alongside Nico Hülkenberg.
If the Paulist has not necessarily distinguished himself by his ability to win races, his consistency at the highest level (16 top 5 and 3 podiums in F2) has convinced Sauber to bet on him in the long term, while the Audi project for 2026.
A 2025 Season Full of Promise
With the arrival of these three talented rookies, the 2025 Formula 1 season promises to be an exciting one. If experience will be on the side of confirmed drivers like Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc or Lando Norris, the young guard embodied by Hadjar, Antonelli and Bortoleto will be keen to find a place in the sun.
The teams which have bet on these hopes will also have a lot to do to enable them to express their full potential. Between the pressure of results and the need to advance their nuggets, the exercise promises to be delicate but exciting.
One thing is certain: with this mix of youth and experience, the 2025 version of F1 promises to be electric. Now it's time for the players in this new chapter of the premier category of motorsport to offer us a show that lives up to the expectations raised. See you in a few months for the first Grand Prix of the season!
