“I may have been too cautious,” regrets Florian Jouanny, bronze medalist in the time trial
“I
      may
      have
      been
      too
      cautious,”
      regrets
      Florian
      Jouanny,
      bronze
      medalist
      in
      the
      time
      trial

The Frenchman was aiming for gold, but had to settle for the bronze medal in the time trial on the technical Clichy-sous-Bois circuit.

Florian Jouanny played his first card. Frustrated, he won the bronze (behind the Spaniard Sergio Garrote Munoz and the Italian Luca Mazzone). In the mixed zone, the Isérois explained: “I didn’t come for the bronze but that’s how it is. I gave it my all and the others were better. I’ll try to do better than that tomorrow (Thursday, road race). I was good, I was on my target powers, we’ll have to look at that a little more closely. But I gave it my all… The circuit? It was good, it was dry. Yesterday, the recon was soaked, it wasn’t the same story. There, we had good conditions, it wasn’t too hot, it was okay. There were quite a few dangerous turns, I was maybe too careful because I was afraid of going to the mat on a dangerous course but it’s the same for everyone.” He is looking forward to the rest: “Remobilize, tell yourself that tomorrow is another day and go for better”.
