A FC Lorient supporter, tried for “intentional violence”, was sentenced to one year in prison, six months of which were served under an electronic tag, France Bleu Breizh Izel has learned. This 31-year-old man is one of the forty people who interrupted the Lorient-Grenoble match on Saturday afternoon for around twenty minutes, as part of tensions between Ligue 2 supporters and the broadcaster beIN Sports.
He pushed a security guard, who fell and hit his head on advertising panels, resulting in two days of ITT. Between 2015 and 2018, he was convicted four times for violence and alcohol problems. He was caught because of his shoes with orange stripes, and admitted the facts in police custody, explains France Bleu.
Earlier on Saturday, the broadcaster’s control room and equipment vans had already been damaged. Since the start of the season, supporters of several clubs have been protesting against the schedule changes for league matches demanded by the broadcaster, beIN Sports.
The Lorient judicial court also banned the supporter from supporting FC Lorient in all sports venues for five years.
