The report on the outlook of European football published by UEFA revealed the data regarding the European Football Championship held this summer. Accordingly, Euro 2024 broke the all-time high record in the number of spectators.
Türkiye 6TH RANK
In the organization hosted by Germany, the league with the most players from all national teams was England. 114 football players from the Premier League, 104 from Serie A, 81 from the Bundesliga, 56 from LaLiga and 31 from Ligue 1 were in the squads of various countries. After Europe’s five major leagues, Türkiye came in 6th place.
ARABIA FOLLOWED TURKEY
25 football players who continued their football career in Turkey were in the squads of the Turkish National Team and other national teams. Turkey was followed by the Czech Republic with 22 names, Austria with 16 names, and the Netherlands and Ukraine with 15 names each. 218 clubs from 35 different countries sent players to the tournament. While Italian clubs took the lead with 28, players from 27 clubs from England and 21 clubs from Germany took part in the organization. After the five major European Leagues, Türkiye ranked first. While players from 10 clubs from Turkey were present in Germany, Turkey was followed by Saudi Arabia with 8.
ITALIAN PLAYERS ALWAYS PLAY IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY
Among the participants in EURO 2024, the England National Team was the team whose squad consisted mostly of football players playing in their own league. 24 of the 26-man squad consisted of players playing in the Premier League. Italy with 23 players, Germany with 20 players; Most of the names in the squad were teams that competed in their own country’s league. Turkish National Team ranked 7th in this statistics. In the crescent-star team, 12 players were from the national league and 14 were players who continued their football career in foreign countries. In Albania and Denmark, the entire 26-player squad consisted of players from foreign leagues.
FENERBAHÇE SENT 7 PLAYERS
Italy’s Inter and England’s Manchester City clubs were the clubs that sent the most players to EURO 2024 with 13 players each. PSG and Real Madrid followed with 12 names each. Fenerbahçe, which ranked 20th among the clubs that sent the most players to the tournament, became the prominent club in the Super League with 7 players.
