Four decades of a flamboyant and extraordinary career that plays on the boundaries between musical styles, it was well worth a special evening in the form of a tribute. On the program: two concerts which, from lyric to popular song, highlight the formidable eclecticism of the most Italian of French tenors. Friday October 11 at 9:05 p.m. on 5.

Always seduced by all aspects of singing, insatiable passionate about the voice, Roberto Alagna has never stopped exploring all artistic territories. At the Folies Bergère, last May, he celebrated two anniversaries with music, that of his 60th birthday and that of his 40 years of artistic life, and offered a unique concert composed of the tunes which have marked his exceptional career, i.e. some one of the great pages of his favorite opera composers, from Puccini (“Nessun Dorma” in Turandot) to Tchaikovsky (“Kuda, kuda vi udalis” in Eugene Onegin), passing through Gounod (Romeo and Juliet), Verdi (The Force of Destiny) or Ruggiero Leoncavallo (“French Serenade”), but also the great successes of Italian popular song, to which Alagna owes his love of singing: “La Spagnola” by Vincenzo Di Chiara, “Be My Love” by Mario Lanza or even “Funicula, funiculi” by Luigi Denza. A concert with the Odyssey Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the conductor, friend and great accomplice of Roberto Alagna, Yvan Cassar.

With Oh La La, Alagna!an anthology of great international standards, performed in concerts by Roberto Alagna, the tenor invites us to discover, with the complicity of musical directors such as Yvan Cassar or Frédéric Manoukian and their orchestras, his extra-lyrical universe born both from his Sicilian origins and his passion for popular song. From Sicily to Little Italy, more than twenty masterfully performed tunes, such as “Mambo Italiano”, “Piensa en mi” or “Under the sun of Mexico”, have marked the artist’s career.

France Musique also devotes a day to Roberto Alagna, on Thursday October 10.
