The Liberal Party is slightly ahead of the outgoing Prime Minister’s Progressive Conservatives in a new poll from the Mainstreet Research firm published Friday.

If the October 21 vote were to be held today, the Liberals of Susan Holt would win it with 36% of the vote, compared to 32% for the Progressive Conservatives of Blaine Higgsaccording to this survey.

11% of voters would put a green ballot in the box, 1% would vote for the New Brunswick People’s Alliance and 2% for another party. Finally, 18% of survey respondents say they are still undecided two weeks before the vote.

The firm also isolated the results of voters who say they are sure of their choice. In this case, the numbers are slightly different. If the elections were held today, the Liberal Party would win the election with 44% of the vote, ahead of the Blues at 37% and the Greens at 17%. The People’s Alliance would get 2% and the other parties 3%.

According to a poll, if the election were to be held today, the Liberals would obtain 26 seats in the Legislative Assembly. They had 10 seats during the previous mandate.

Always according to Mainstreet Researchthese votes would translate into 26 seats in the Legislative Assembly for the Reds, 22 for the Progressive Conservatives and only one for the Greens.

The percentage probability of obtaining a majority is 77.3% for the Liberals, compared to 7.3% for the Progressive Conservatives and 0% for the Greens.

Survey methodology

Mainstreet Research explains that its analysis comes from a survey conducted from October 1 to 3 among a sample of 906 adults, aged 18 or older, living in New Brunswick.

Respondents are expected represent the electoral population of the province, according to Mainstreet Research.

The margin of error for this poll is plus or minus 3.3%, 95 times out of 100.

None of the parties wished to comment on this poll.
