During their current exhibition tour in Cologne, Germany, and Shanghai, China, the “Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs” and “Top of the Pyramid: Civilization of Ancient Egypt” exhibitions witnessed success and great public demand since their opening last July.

Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that the “Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs” exhibition, which is currently being held in Cologne, Germany, received 100,000 visitors, which prompted the organizing company to request an extension of the period of its display at its next stop in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, from six months to nine months. While the “Top of the Pyramid: Civilization of Ancient Egypt” exhibition, held at the Shanghai Museum in China, received 525,000 visitors over the past five months, which prompted the exhibition management to extend the exhibition’s visiting hours to the evening period, four days a week.

The Secretary-General pointed out that the two exhibitions played a major role in promoting the Egyptian tourist destination, especially the cultural tourism product, which is the main goal of holding foreign archaeological exhibitions, which are the best ambassador for Egypt abroad. He expressed his confidence that the coming period will witness an increase in tourist traffic coming from the two German markets. And the Chinese, especially since they are among the targeted tourist markets.

It is worth noting that the Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition includes 181 artifacts from the collections of a number of Egyptian museums that highlight some of the distinctive characteristics of ancient Egyptian civilization from the era of the Middle Kingdom until the late era.

The city of Cologne is the fifth stop for this exhibition after visiting the cities of Houston and San Francisco in the United States of America, in , and Sydney in Australia.

As for the “Top of the Pyramid: Civilization of Ancient Egypt” exhibition, there are 787 artifacts from the collections of a number of ancient Egyptian antiquities museums, highlighting the greatness of ancient Egyptian civilization, illustrating the idea of ​​ownership, daily life, adornment and jewellery, writing, religious beliefs, and the other world of the ancient Egyptian.
