Information about the APAC 2025 League of Legends tournament was officially announced – What is the future for VCS?

As planned by Riot previously, a League of Legends tournament in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region will be launched in 2025 called League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP).

A while ago, Riot announced The League of Legends Esports system will be changed drastically in 2025. In addition to launching a third international tournament, VCS will also be merged into one APAC region (Asia-Pacific) leaving the world of League of Legends with only the 5 largest regions left. This merger not only increases competition but also helps Riot focus investment on truly worthy names.

Accordingly, the official tournament of the APAC region is introduced as League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) from 2025. Thereby, LCP will be one of the five major regions on par with the LCK regions. , LPL, LEC and LCS.

The official name of the tournament in the APAC region.

LCP is considered the only path for regional teams to qualify for global events next year. VCS will be combined with PCS (Taiwan, Hong Kong,…) and LJL (Japan) to compete together at the LCP tournament to compete for spots in larger international tournaments.

And while the LCP tournament is being held, domestic tournaments in these regions will still play as usual. to find the best teams to compete for an Invitational spot through promotion and relegation tournaments.

Roadmap to major international tournaments in 2025.

Considering the three largest regions of LCP, it can be seen that VCS and PCS are the two regions with the most advantages. Based on the results of the recent Worlds 2024 Kick-off round, VCS will have a slight advantage because except for PSG Talon, we can be confident that the remaining teams of PCS will also find it difficult to compete with VCS. Even the PCS 2nd place team, Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming (SHG), when entering the world, did not have any outstanding performance. It is difficult to have a PCS team other than PSG Talon or a team in LJL at the present time that can cause difficulties for VCS teams.

Of course, with VKE’s performance at Worlds 2024, it will be difficult to say anything. But regarding GAM’s position, at least VCS audiences can rest assured about this yellow and black shirt team as they are still showing a bright face at this year’s Worlds.

Regarding the LCP 2025 tournament, although there is no detailed information about the participating teams and the format has not been revealed, but with preliminary announcements, the community can guess the most likely representatives to participate. LCP 2025 includes PSG Talon, GAM Esports, Vikings Esports and Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming.

The 2025 season promises to be extremely attractive as competition increases and VCS will have many opportunities to compete with neighboring areas. VCS audiences can completely trust that the home teams will do their best to take as many spots to international tournaments as possible.
