AGS Racing, based in Gonfaron in France, announces the creation of the iM4 Cup, a four-round championship starting in March 2025, open worldwide to drivers aged 14 and over, limited to 15 places. The iM4 championship is approved by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Sport Automobile (FRMSA), the ASN of Morocco. After assessment by AGS, FRMSA will issue racing licenses to iM4 drivers.
The championship will be a single-make competition and the drivers will be supervised exclusively by AGS. The cars used will be generation 2 F4s equipped with Halo. The championship will provide a crucial lead to drivers making their debut in various single-seater championships in 2025/2026 or those moving from karting to single-seaters.
Willy Collignon, director of AGS, said: “There is a big gap between high-level karting and high-level F4 championships in terms of driving style, confidence, adaptation, but also budget . Drivers are doing more and more testing a year before their single-seater debut and have few opportunities to gain racing experience. There is usually a very steep learning curve when moving from karting and testing to racing. The iM4 will enable this transition in a controlled environment.”
The iM4 will operate under a hybrid academy and competition model, in which all drivers will progress under the guidance of experienced coaches, engineers and mechanics, with cars prepared in the same way.
The iM4 Academy includes a five-day pre-season evaluation program at AGS facilities in March 2025, focusing on physical and mental strength, technical understanding of cars, driving techniques, training on simulator and communication skills. The program will obtain individual driver profiles which will be used to provide personalized feedback as they progress through the championship.
-The calendar will include 4 rounds (12 races) and up to 10 days of academy and testing. Tests and races are planned on selected circuits in Spain, France and Morocco. The presentation is scheduled for this Saturday, January 25.
