Four works for a single Grail. This Saturday, January 18, at the Moulin de Saint-André theater, in Vinon-sur-Verdon, the finalist books for the DLVAgglo 2025 Readers' Prize “Une Terre, un autre” were revealed: I still cry for the beauty of the world de Charlotte McConaghy, Lowlands by Estelle-Sarah Bulle, Pain brings winter of Matteo Porru and Sugar by Bibiana Candia.
For this eighth edition, the selection was made from ten preselected novels. A jury of 15 members then set about choosing the four finalists after three months of intensive reading. “I am very happy to have been able to read all the books that were offered to usrejoices Charlotte Monsarrat, president of the prize. We had difficulty choosing the four finalists because the entire selection was of high quality.”
Results of votes on Saturday June 14
The four works are now available in the city's media libraries. Readers have until May 31 to read the works and vote. The author who receives the most votes will win the prize. “It is a prize which is a collaboration between librarians, authors, publishers, booksellers and readersexplains Sandra Faure, deputy vice-president of cultural development for DLVAgglo. It brings together those who love reading, literature and those who like to travel with words. (…) It is an event which travels from January to June in our territory.”
To guide the voters' choice, one meeting per month with an author will take place until the prize is awarded: February 1 with Marie Chabin (translator of the novel I still cry for the beauty of the world) at the Herbès media library, in Manosque (from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.), March 29 with Matteo Porru at the La Passerelle media library, in Sainte-Tulle (from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.), April 26 with Estelle-Sarah Bulle at the Joseph-Piégay media library, in Vinon-sur-Verdon (from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. h), and on May 24 with Bibiana Candia at the Romain-Selsis media library, in Oraison (from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
Conferences, films and literary hikes
This year, the offering will even be expanded since, over the next five months, conferences, film screenings and even literary hikes will take place throughout the city.
-An unprecedented partnership with the second year students of the Félix-Esclangon high school in Manosque will also be set up. These high school students will produce four literary videos to discuss the finalist novels.
The outcome of this eighth edition will be held on Saturday June 14, in the garden of the Gréoux-les-Bains media library. The winner will then be revealed to the public.
