Ted Kravitz explains why he turned down an appearance in Brad Pitt's hit film.

The Formula 1 world is eagerly awaiting the release of Brad Pitt's film, but Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz has revealed why he declined a potential appearance in the star-studded production. With the film set for a June release, Kravitz shared his reasons, mixing jokes and professional reservations about finding himself in the Hollywood spotlight.

Behind the scenes of Pitt's F1 masterpiece

The F1 film, produced by Brad Pitt in collaboration with Lewis Hamilton, has been in the works since 2023, with on-location filming ramping up during the 2024 F1 season. The production has had unprecedented access to Formula 1 circuits and teams , thanks to the support of the sport, but this did not fail to arouse paranoia among some members of the paddock.

Mercedes collaborated significantly on the project, even developing the fictional APXGP car, which is a modified Formula 2 chassis. However, Red Bull and other rival teams have expressed concerns about possible bias, fearing that their portrayal in the film would not be flattering.

Despite the tensions, Red Bull boss Christian Horner showed his support, describing the film as “a major step for Formula 1 in the entertainment scene.” »

Why Ted Kravitz said no

During an interview, Kravitz humorously recalled his interaction with Brad Pitt during the Abu Dhabi GP, where the final scenes of the film were filmed. According to Kravitz:

“I think the offer of a cameo role was kind of a joke, because I think he's offering everyone a cameo role. And they finished filming that afternoon. I don't really think I turned him down – I think it was meant as a joke. I returned to the joking tone. »

While Kravitz downplayed the seriousness of the offer, his refusal underscores his commitment to remaining in his field as a journalist rather than launching into the cinematic spotlight.

A helping hand from Hollywood for F1

With Pitt starring and Hamilton contributing behind the scenes, the film aims to attract a new wave of fans to the sport. Red Bull, despite initial reservations, has softened its stance on the project, with Horner acknowledging the potential benefits:

“It’s another massive step for Formula 1, and I’m sure they will do the sport justice in the way they present it. »

The timing couldn't be better, as the 2024 season delivered one of the most competitive years in F1 history, with seven different drivers taking victories. The film's dynamic on-track visuals and gripping behind-the-scenes drama are sure to amplify the sport's global appeal.

Great Expectations for 2025

As Formula 1 builds on the incredible momentum of the 2024 season, Brad Pitt's next film could play a key role in expanding its fan base. With the sport's intense rivalries, cutting-edge technology and cinematic flair, this production is poised to become a cultural touchstone for F1 enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Whether Kravitz's decision to forgo a cameo is serious or light-hearted, the film's impending release is set to shine a spotlight on the sport – and perhaps introduce its own drama worthy of the F1 paddock.
