Launched in 2008 with The Ice Princessthe literary saga Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström is one of the most popular in the world and particularly in France where it has enjoyed some success. Good news, even though an 11th volume was released last year (The Cuckoo’s Nest), it is a series adaptation which is arriving this year on TF1.
A series faithful to the books?
A few weeks after revealing his version of the universe Cat’s Eyesthe French channel will offer season 1 of Erica worn by Julie de Bona. And as was already the case with the project linked to Tsukasa Hōjō’s manga, early fans should be delighted by the result produced thanks to what happened behind the scenes.
Speaking to Le Point, Camilla Läckberg – the author behind these novels, confirmed that she had worked in collaboration with the creative team to ensure the fidelity of her work. “The producers had the generosity of letting me participate in the whole processshe explained. We first discussed their vision of the series and my contribution.“
Subsequently, Camilla Läckberg revealed: “I read all the manuscripts and was able to add small notes like: ‘Erica wouldn’t do this, or would rather act like that’.” A reassuring participation for her, “This heroine, these novels, they are my babies“, but also for readers who are thus guaranteed to find the effectiveness of books on screen.
The only major change that could disconcert more than one person? “Grégory Fitoussi is much more handsome than the Patrik of the novelsthe writer joked to Télé 7 Jours. But that doesn’t bother me!“
On the program of Erica ? Here is the synopsis of TF1: “Returning to her hometown to settle her parents’ estate, Erica Faure, a crime writer lacking inspiration, discovers with horror her childhood friend dead in her bathtub, her wrists slashed. Convinced that it is not a suicide, she launches into an investigation where the past and the present will intertwine.“
