Lewis Hamilton admitted his final season at Mercedes F1 was marked by “a lot of turbulence” et “lots of ups and downs”.
He also admitted to being touched by the warm farewell he received from the team at the factory, describing his time at Mercedes as “the honor of my life”.
But now it is time to think about the vacation, probably shorter than expected, since from January he will be in Maranello to get to know Ferrari better.
Does he already realize the change that all this will imply?
“Honestly, no.”
“I remember at the beginning of the year I was printing out the contract and I couldn’t believe this was actually going to happen.”
“It’s been a really, really, really long year. It was hard to deal with the announcement and then obviously the relationship.”
“A lot of turbulence, a lot of ups and downs with people I’ve worked with for many, many years.”
“Dealing with all of this has been really, really, really difficult throughout the year. There are so many people and it’s affected everyone.”
“Going through this difficult, turbulent time and then coming back and getting to a point where love shows.”
“Beyond the disappointment and people saying to me: ‘I can’t imagine you in red’, now they just say to me: ‘I wish you all the best, thank you very much for everything we have done’ and there are tears…”
“It’s truly beautiful. Honestly, I’ll be forever grateful to this team, every member that’s here, every member of the factory, it’s been the honor of my life to be a part of it.”
“And I can’t believe I’m going to Ferrari and wearing red next year. It’s a color that suits me, so I hope we do great things together.”
