Formula 1 | Haas : Komatsu favors a scenario to regain sixth place

Haas scored two points in Qatar, but that result was overshadowed by Alpine scoring ten, putting the French team five points ahead of the American outfit. Ayao Komatsu, the team director, talks about the race of Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen.

“With Nico coming up from 18th place, this race was going to be difficult and unfortunately we didn't achieve anything with him” Komatsu said. “Kevin, for his part, drove well again but we didn't have the right philosophy. He was unlucky with the safety car, but we could have covered ourselves a little better than that.”

“The good news is that we are only five points behind and in Abu Dhabi we really need to focus on putting both our drivers in positions that allow us to score points.”

The Japanese even specifies what scenario he imagines to achieve this: “Finishing eighth and ninth – that’s six points – so it’s all to play for, we need to learn from our mistakes, pull ourselves together and focus on doing our best in Abu Dhabi to try and get back to 6th in the championship.”
