Lewis Hamilton is set for a difficult and disappointing final race with Mercedes F1. Because according to the seven-time world champion, this will in no way represent what he experienced in the team over the years spent at Brackley.
“Even if it ends like this weekend, I don’t think it defines the journey we’ve been on and experienced, but I’ll give it everything I can” Hamilton said.
“I don't think we're going to finish on a good note, but what's important is how we're going to give our best. I'm not expecting a particularly better weekend than the previous ones, but I will try, of course.”
“I go in with little hope and come out with a better result, so good, but it doesn't make a big difference one way or the other. These last few races have no impact on everything we did together.”
“It's been a roller coaster of emotions and I'm just grateful to still be here. I've had some great races in my life and I've had some bad races in my life. There aren't any had a lot of bad ones.”
Hamilton explains why he had a complicated race even before his puncture: “We didn't adjust the wings properly. It happened several times. Yes, there wasn't enough downforce on the front of the car, and the car didn't want to turn.”
“So I was massively understeering for a long period of time. And honestly, I felt like that's what led to the tire failure. Maybe it was debris. I Didn't see any debris, to be honest, but it's not ideal. It happened just as I was passing the pitlane entrance.
