Aston Martin F1 regained some colors in Qatar this Friday, and Fernando Alonso is not unhappy with his final 11th place. The Spaniard is hoping to get back on points, after a series of disappointing results for his team.
“The Sprint Qualification took place in better conditions this evening in Qatar. We were very comfortable in SQ1 and we narrowly missed SQ3” regrets the double world champion.
“The high-speed nature and track temperature seems to suit our package a little better. We have the opportunity to fight for some points in the Sprint tomorrow and, hopefully, in Sunday's race.”
Lance Stroll regrets bad timing in SQ2 with 14th place, but is pleased to have clearly cleared SQ1: “It's good to be back on track here in Qatar. SQ1 was good and I was happy with the laps I did, but we encountered a bit of traffic during my last stint in SQ2, which which didn't help.”
“I lost a bit of time because of that and the margins are obviously very tight. The performance of the car wasn't too bad today, but I think it will be difficult to overtake in the race Sprint tomorrow. Lots of action left this weekend, so more opportunities to come.”
