Haas F1 has lost the sixth place in the constructors' championship that it had regained in Mexico, and Nico Hülkenberg hopes to help regain it in Las Vegas this weekend. The German driver is looking forward to racing in Nevada.
“We are about to enter the last three races and, of course, we want to return to sixth place in the constructors' championship to finish this season in style” Hulkenberg said.
“The first stop, Las Vegas, is truly a unique circuit with an unrivaled backdrop, it's a very different atmosphere for F1. I'm looking forward to this weekend and I'm going to put everything on red this time.”
Kevin Magnussen will get back behind the wheel after his absence from Brazil for medical reasons: “I like the circuit, it's cool to race on the Strip. I really like the street circuits and the one in Las Vegas is very nice.”
“There's a lot of speed, maybe not technical speed, but you go really fast through the corners of these streets and it's exhilarating. There's no doubt that when you go down the track and you see Vegas if Clearly, it’s a very nice feeling.”
The Dane recognizes that evening schedules (local time) are difficult to manage: “It’s always a tough program, it’s a late night race, so the whole program moves to the late evening and it changes your routine a lot.”
Ayao Komatsu, the team director, sees Las Vegas as the circuit of all dangers, but also of all opportunities: “The Las Vegas Grand Prix presents a unique challenge for several reasons. Like Baku, it is a street circuit with low-speed corners and a very long straight.”
“What is very different from Baku is the temperature. It is very cold, which makes it difficult to manage the tires in particular. Last year, many incidents occurred in Vegas. So we have to remain vigilant and take every opportunity available to us to score points.”
