Formula 1 | Why Bortoleto 'always wanted to be' like Verstappen

Gabriel Bortoleto will be one of the debutants in Formula 1 next season, with Stake . The Brazilian was asked about the driver he admires in his driving style, and he revealed that it is not the man who runs the company that manages him, Fernando Alonso.

“Today I really like the way Max [Verstappen] driver, in the sense that I really admire his qualifying laps and everything he gets out of the car during those laps, the way he drives and races. Obviously this can be very difficult.” Bortoleto said on the F1 Nation podcast.

Bortoleto explains why he is attracted to driving Max Verstappen, in particular because he has always had the opportunity to hear about the Dutchman throughout his karting career. However, he reveals that his lifelong idol is Ayrton Senna.

“I've always admired the way Max drives, since I was very young, because I was part of a karting team that he grew up with, so they would always tell me stories about him, and I was like always 'what would Max do in this situation?' I always wanted to be a bit like him, because he won everything he did in the junior series.”

“Obviously my biggest hero is Ayrton Senna, for the driver he was, for everything he did on the track, but also off the track, I think he was a great person with a great morals, and the legacy he left behind, and everything he did for Brazil, I think that's something that inspires me.”
