The 2024 season of the Sauber team (or Stake F1 Sauber) will not remain engraved in the rich history of Formula 1. Good last in the constructor's championship, with no points recorded in the standings, the team which will become Audi is nevertheless at the heart negotiations and rumors. The reason? A potential investment, or even a partial buyout, of QSI, a Qatari investment fund, notably owner of Paris Saint-Germain.
Towards a revelation at the Qatar GP?
The information revealed by Motorsport are moving in this direction. Despite a takeover with great fanfare of the tenth team on the grid, Audi would today be prey to some financial doubts. When it comes time to jump into the deep end of Formula 1, a little help would not be frowned upon in Germany.
« I expect some sort of takeover of Sauber by a Qatari entity and I suppose the best time to announce it would be in Doha in a few weeks » predicted British journalist Joe Saward. The Qatar Grand Prix will be the penultimate meeting of the season, from November 29 to December 1, before concluding the ball in Abu Dhabi.

As with football, Qatar, like everyone else, notes the growing interest in Formula 1 around the globe and may legitimately want to invest in it. “ It could just as easily be a minority investment involving no apparent change, as it could be a larger stake which would have an impact on the name of the team. » indicates Motorsport, which also puts forward the hypothesis of a “ takeover of the Neuburg an der Danube plant, where Audi is preparing its power unit in Germany ».
The team, now managed by Mattia Binotto, ex-Ferrari, still has long weeks of reflection and important decisions to make before presenting Audi's return to the Formula 1 grid.
