Mercedes F1 has revealed that a key focus of its development for the future is to address its poor performance in slow corners.
The W15 entered a series of experiments for the future W16 of 2025, the team no longer having anything to play for or defend in the manufacturers' championship, with a very well consolidated 4th place.
Andrew Shovlin, the track engineering manager, said that “The issues we are facing with our latest update are the same issues we were facing before.”
“We tend to be weak in slow corners, especially when one corner follows another.”
“The team is prioritizing this area of development for 2025 and our W16. The big focus in these remaining races for us is to learn what we can to launch the best single-seater possible.”
“We are in a position in the championship where we cannot fight with those in front of us. It is very unlikely that we will face challenges from the teams behind us.”
“Our focus has shifted a lot to learning what we need to apply it next year to overcome these issues.”
