An astonishing initiative was taken by Sebastian Vettel this year in Brazil: a year after installing a beehive to encourage biodiversity at Suzuka, he imagined recycling at Interlagos.

The four-time World Champion has put an end to rumors of a comeback in Formula 1 by preferring to focus more on environmental issues, including in his favorite sport where he can have an impact.

In Sao Paulo, Vettel mounted a spectacular operation by creating an “ecological” Ayrton Senna helmet made from waste collected in the area around the Interlagos circuit.

Unite the pilots

Before the tests, he took all the Grand Prix drivers to visit his work (photo above) to ensure maximum visibility for the event, a game which his former colleagues took part in enthusiastically.

Along the way, Seb sent a moving tribute to Ayrton Senna, the great Brazilian champion who marked his generation but also the next, as we could see on the drivers' helmets as well as during the demonstration carried out by Lewis Hamilton at the wheel from one of his old McLarens.

A symbolic message

“This helmet, made from can lids found right next to the Interlagos circuit in Brazil, pays homage to Ayrton Senna and his legacy, expresses Vettel. It also highlights the importance of a positive transition.”

“Caring for our planet and all its forms of life is indeed essential to sustaining our future. No matter what you are passionate about, it is always nature at its origin – there is still a race to win “
he concludes, emphasizing that there is still a fight to fight… and to win!
