Alpine F1 once again reached the final part of the Sprint Qualifying in Brazil, Pierre Gasly confirming his very good form at the end of the season. The French driver did not hide his satisfaction and he hopes to be able to score points during the Sprint.
“I'm delighted with today's result in Sprint Qualifying. This is our third consecutive appearance in Q3, even if it's only in the Sprint this time. We had a solid qualifying performance right from the start of the first session” Gasly said.
“I felt good in the car throughout the day. This allowed us to approach SQ1, get out of it and put together some good laps while gradually increasing the pace. We are finally in the lead of the middle of the pack, which is a sign of progress for us.”
“So we can all be very happy with that. The goal now is to be in the match for points tomorrow in the Sprint. It won't be easy, but I'm happy with this start and we will continue to work hard to score on the rest of the weekend.”
Esteban Ocon did not make it through SQ1 and his frustration contrasts with the good humor of his teammate: “We cannot be satisfied with our result in Sprint Qualifications even if the sensations were there in SQ1.”
“It was a clean lap, without any mistakes, but it seems that we have gaps somewhere. We need to find the reasons for this, but also improvements for the rest of the weekend.”
“Tomorrow is another opportunity to continue our learning and we must aim for progress. The Sprint represents an opportunity, so let's see how it goes knowing that I will give my all.”
