Formula 1 | Williams : Another point signed by Colapinto!

Franco Colapinto continues to confirm all the good things that the paddock thinks of him with a new point scored for Williams.

He could even have scored a 2nd, that of the fastest lap in the race, but Esteban Ocon and Alpine F1 put on soft tires at the end of the race to deprive him of it, as part of the championship battle between the two teams.

“After a difficult Saturday, we managed to bounce back in the race. We showed great strength as a team to turn things around today. RB, Haas and Alpine were all strong this weekend, so it was going to be difficult to to get into the points I knew we had a good race pace and when I found my rhythm in the clean air we really pushed.”

“I learned a lot from my first Sprint weekend, which can only benefit me in the future. I need to continue learning to help the team progress in the right direction. Hopefully we can build on that in the next two races of the triple bill.”

Alex Albon saw his race ruined by an impact during the start.

“It was a tough weekend. I feel like I got a bit stuck in Turn 1 and once I had some damage from a driver pushing me, it It was a race where I thought we were going to give up with the car, but we were trying to play the long game and help Franco in his race.

“The car was OK, but I feel like we struggled all weekend with it and we just couldn’t find the right window with the soft tyres. It’s a result disappointing but it’s just the start of a treble, so hopefully we can make some changes and come back stronger in Mexico.”
