Atlético Madrid’s Franco-Spanish defender Robin Le Normand will miss the Champions League match in Lisbon on Wednesday due to head trauma and a hematoma, the Spanish club announced on Tuesday.
“Robin Le Normand received a violent blow to the head in the final minutes of the Madrid derby, for which he underwent a series of examinations and an evaluation by specialists who determined that he was suffering from cranioencephalic trauma (TCE) with subdural hematoma”writes the rojiblanco club in a press release.
Shock with Tchouaméni
The clash in question took place with Real Madrid’s Frenchman Aurélien Tchouaméni during the Madrid derby on Sunday (1-1).
The central defender, European champion this summer with Spain, did not make the trip to Lisbon with his teammates and should be unavailable for several days according to the Spanish press.
His participation in the next La Roja gathering with a view to the two League of Nations matches against Denmark and Serbia on October 12 and 15 is not in question for the moment, while coach Luis De la Fuente must announce his list on Friday.
The former Real Sociedad player, transferred to Atlético for 34.5 million euros during the summer transfer window, had established himself as an indisputable starter since the start of the season.
