The deputy for Belkhir Belhaddad is demanding the decrees implementing an amendment passed in 2020. To do this, he will cover the 330 kilometers that separate from by bike and by running.

Since Saturday, the deputy Together for the Republic (EPR), from Moselle, Belkhir Belhaddad has launched a sporting and political challenge. Its objective is to connect Metz to Paris by bike and running, and to adopt the application of a sport-health amendment voted in 2020.

This amendment concerns the 2021 Social Security finance bill and should allow people with type 2 diabetes to benefit from support and nutritional and sports assessments, in particular via sports-health centers, specifies The Parisian.

Arrival planned at the Ministry of Health

Saturday November 2, the MP started his journey from the Metz- hospital center and hopes to reach the capital by Wednesday November 6. A 330-kilometer “duathlon” which will pass through Verdun, Châlons-en-Champagne, Château-Thierry then (Seine-et-), before ending at 14, avenue Duquesne, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. This is where the Ministry of Health is located.

“I will not leave the ministry without my implementing decrees”the elected official told the newspaper The Lorraine Republican. Furthermore, Belkhir Belhaddad will be accompanied by two people on the route and then some of his collaborators will then join him in Paris.

This sporting and political challenge could change the daily lives of nearly four million diabetics. Type 2 diabetes is the most common and affects “92% of diabetics” according to Health Insurance.
