Kindly welcomed this Friday evening in the premises of the ISVT of Vals, thee Velay Club took stock of the 2024 financial year.

After the traditional wishes, the president drew up the moral report highlighting “the good health of the club which maintains its membership, with a roughly equivalent proportion between young people from the cycling school and seniors, i.e. 164 members including 22 women , 66 young people. These numbers place the VCV as the leading club in Haute-.”

During the year 2024 various events were organized in several disciplines, such as the Eycenac MTB Trophy which brought together 114 young people, the 70th Grand Prix d’Allègre supporting the Haute-Loire championships, the second Grand Prix du Monastier -sur-Gazeille, the Chronos du Vealy-Océane, each successful except for the Rando ZA Laprade which in April suffered the onslaught of the weather.

40 volunteers

The club can also count on a strong mobilization of its volunteers, there are in fact more than forty people on a more or less regular basis who supervise the young people from the cycling schools during two weekly training sessions with three groups on the road and three groups on mountain bikes. including some outings also offered during school holidays.

Finally, the club’s objective of bringing more young people into competitions in 2024 seems to be coming true because commitments are up significantly.


Five disciplines

The Vélo Club du Velay is regularly involved in five disciplines, road, cyclo-cross, XC (mountain bike racing), enduro, pumptrack recent discipline in which we must highlight the superb performance of Louise Duwez who is rising on the 2nd step of the French Women’s Elite Championship.

722 engagements

For the 2024 season, the VCV has 722 race entries, 71 victories, 182 podiums, 403 rankings in the top 10. The riders have won numerous departmental titles in road, cyclo-cross and mountain biking, accessions in regional competitions as well as a team champion title at the Tour du Cantal for four of the U17s (Cadets), the backbone of the team of the Haute-Loire.


The young people of the club put in the spotlight

For their participation and results in races or their attendance at training, around thirty young people were given outfits, accessories, packs, as part of the Mondovélo internal Challenge.


Change at the office

After presenting a balanced balance sheet, Philippe Lafont, the treasurer and kingpin of the club, gives up his place.
