As throughout France, 2024 was a successful year for cinema in Indre-et-Loire. However, at the start of the year, Anthony Dos-Santos, operations manager of Pathé Tours, was worried about Hollywood strikes. Eventually “we can thank French productions”, rejoices the manager at the start of 2025.
The Touraine cinemas had some nice surprises with a “slight increase” entries. Anthony Dos-Santos explains that unlike certain cinemas “we have lowered our prices and developed interesting offers such as unlimited cinema subscriptions”a potential factor in this increase.
“All the lights are green”
The top 3 at the national box office is clear: French films are on the rise. A little something extra in the lead (10,807,899 entries) (1), followed closely by Le Comte de Monte Cristo (9,346,371 entries) and finally Vice-versa 2 (8.427.652 entrées ). phew love by Gilles Lellouche finds himself in 5e place behind Vaiana 2.
In Amboise, Roberto Rui, director of Loft cinemas (Ciné A), mentions a “good regular attendance all year round”. He is even pleasantly surprised that the duration of the epic adaptation of Comte de Monte Cristo did not repel the spectators, quite the contrary “despite the three hours of film it works! “.
Other French films have contributed to the success of this year 2024 such as Mr Aznavour, phew love or even Louise Violet according to the director of Ciné A.
Leonardo da Vinci still on display
The animated film Leo, the fabulous story of Leonardo da Vinciis the one that remained on display the longest in Amboise. Still in theaters, since January 31, 2024, so for almost a year, and “there are people at all the sessions”a great way to end a visit to Clos Lucé.

Pour 2025, “all the lights are green”, smiles Anthony Dos-Santos. Particularly by the return of American franchises with highly anticipated releases like Disney Lilo and Stitch the 21st of 2025, Avatar 3 (Avatar : Fire and Ash) at the cinema scheduled for the end of the year (December 17, 2025), superheroes with the return of Captain America et Superman. Films that represent “very big bets” for the coming year, assures the director of Pathé Tours.
Pre-Covid figures back
On the Deux-Lions side, we are also delighted with these French films which were a hit, with a favorite for A little something a plus qualified as the event of the year. This 2024 program was able to appeal to all audiences and produced very good results: “we find figures from before Covid”. In 2025, the Two Lions look forward to “have such a great year again”.
