It turns out, as relayed by Le Dauphiné Libéré, that a new name has been added to the list of provisional suspensions for violations of the anti-doping rules of the International Cycling Union (UCI). On September 24, 2024, the Polish Kacper Gieryk tested positive for EPO.
A young hope of world cycling
Gieryk tested positive for EPO the day after his 40th place at the European U20 Time Trial Championships in Zurich (Switzerland). Caught red-handed, the one who has belonged to the continental training Lubelskie Perła Polski since July 1, could therefore see his career take a hit in the head with this positive test which comes at a very bad time. Gieryk is a three-time Polish hopeful time trial champion, who notably took 12th place in the general classification of the Peace Race this year. But with this information about taking EPO, he now risks having a sword of Damocles hanging over his head…
